Hello, my name is Matthew Labrecque

I’m currently in my Senior year at the University of New Hampshire, studying Applied Mathematics with a concentration in Computational Mathematics. My interests include systems-programming, algorithm analysis, and machine learning. Additionally, I’m also a film maker, musician, poet, and in-general a tinkerer who uses technology to create and build things which interest me. When I’m not working on my homelab, studying for exams or failing to learn Spanish, you can usually find me lifting weights or exploring the great outdoors of this beautiful planet we get to call home.

What is this website?

This website serves as a public-facing view of my Zettelkasten which contains all of the knowledge that I’ve accured and learned over my time at university and self-studying. It is broken into four main categories:

  1. INBOX: This is where I write atomic notes about what I’ve learned
  2. INPUT: This is where I put clips/information about topics that interest me. I refer to them as “Input” because they are from external sources, and not my own individual thoughts.
  3. ARCHIVE: The Archive contains fully fleshed out personal thoughts/notes, and typically brings together multiple atomic notes and input notes at once.
  4. PUBLISHED: These are either poems, essays, or other works of writing which I want people to be able to be able to read/see more about

Current projects

My favorite tools

  • Linux: I prefer using Linux over using Windows or MacOS as it’s ideal for programing, as well as I enjoy the ability to customize my computer exactly hwo I want it to be. Personally I use Arch Linux with Niri as my window manager.
  • Neovim: I’m a little weird in that I don’t like bulky IDEs for programming, so I prefer Neovim with my own custom condifuration for programming. Neovim is also ideal because I can hook it into my other tools I use such as Zettk-CLI.
