The more I pause to reflect and process the workd we live in now, the more I
become convinced quite a few of our modern day societal issues can be traced
back to the origin of the 24-hour news cycle.

Specifically, because the news cycle always needed fresh content to show they
would hyperfocus on the bad things happening in society which is what began
laying the groundwork for the modern day “culture war” we now find ourselves in.
All of this only served to lay the groundwork for a extremist figure to rise up
and get power simply through their ability to utilize this controlled
anger/social conditioning to their advantage.

So indirectly, one could argue that President Trump’s election as well as the
battleground so many states seem to be in across multiple disciplines/fields
(such as environment, LGBT, culture, reparations, etc) can be traced back to
this news cycle which created a beast of people constantly only consuming bad
information and not being properly counter-balanced with positive news as well.

As a culture, we consume more information in one day than a peasant in the 1500s
did in their entire life, but at the same time one must remained
socially/politically aware. So what does this mean? Well, one must learn to
cultivate their feeds/information from reputable sources as well as limiting how
much they consume in a day. RSS feeds might be the ideal solution to this
problem.
